Peptide shelf life refers to the period during which a research peptide is expected to remain within specified quality limits when stored under defined conditions. In practice, shelf life is not a fixed number for every product because stability can vary with sequence, purity profile, packaging, moisture exposure, and storage temperature.
What to check
- COA and labeling: Review the manufacturer’s stated expiry or retest date.
- Storage requirements: Follow the recommended temperature range and keep containers tightly sealed.
- Handling history: Repeated warming, thawing, or exposure to light and humidity can shorten usable time.
- Analytical confirmation: For critical studies, verify identity and integrity by HPLC and/or mass spectrometry before use.
If a peptide is past its stated date, or if its appearance or documentation is uncertain, it should be evaluated according to your laboratory’s quality procedures before use. For research use only; not intended for human consumption.
